Starting a business is hard. Starting an online business is even hard. Starting a coaching business when you have no background in business and/or marketing is the hardest..in my opinion.
So, whenever I see the question: “Do I need a business coach when starting a coaching business?” I truly want to cry.
Why? Because in my opinion, it shouldn’t even be a question. It should be a no-brainer yes. Starting a business comes with a lot of learning and strategizing and planning and strengthening skills that you might possibly currently be at a 0 with. And you expect to be able to do that all on your own?
Now, I’m not saying that it’s impossible to do on your own. If you read enough articles and blog posts and consume enough free content from business coaches on Instagram, you might be able to figure it out. Add podcasts into the mix and you’re in free content wonderland.
But, there’s two problems with doing it the free way:
When you try to start your business all on your own, you are most likely not going to be super structured or organized. You will consume advice on how to attract dream clients through content and how to best show up on Instagram. Most coaches even go as far as to extremely over simplify the process.
So, what this leads to is either you getting one or two clients and then feeling confused af as to how to replicate those results or working your ass off and yielding no results because at the end of the day you don’t really have any idea what you’re doing.
On top of all of this, imagine how much time you need to spend consuming in order to then implement. A LOT.
Time is not a renewable resource.
So, the question is, which is more important to you? Your time or your money?
You can always make more money somehow, but time? You can’t get that back.
When you invest in a coach, you are honoring your time.
You are saying my time is extremely valuable and I don’t have time to try and decipher a map on my own. You are saying that you’d prefer to take Google Maps to get to your location (signing consistent clients in your business) vs getting stuck in traffic because no one gave you a heads up.
So, for all of these reasons, yes, I do think you need to hire a business coach when starting a coaching business.
And guess what? When you hire a business coach (assuming they are good at what they do) you are going to get support creating your personalized business plan that leads to success for you and your business.
As the business coach for new coaches and service providers, I know how scary it can be to invest when you aren’t making money yet. Trust me, I’ve been there. But usually the biggest fear is not actually making the initial investment, but whether you’ll make the initial investment back or not.
And here’s the thing, there’s no guarantee of that (and if any coach is guaranteeing that, RUN because it’s an impossible guarantee). But, what I can tell you is that there’s also no guarantee that you’ll make money if you spend months and months consuming and researching in hopes of making money. And your chances of making money in your business increase a shit ton when you are working with someone who has already been where you are now.
Use me as a coach for an example.
Does every single client who goes through my program make a shit ton of money by the end of the program? No.
But, do they all leave with a transformation and a clear vision? 100%.
And sometimes, they leave with making over $10,000 in their business when 3 months earlier, they had no business (yes, this has happened before).
And of course there are results all in between as well.
So although hiring a business coach might be scary, it’s exactly what you need to do when starting a coaching business. And if you want your business coach to be your right hand woman supporting you all the way through and cheering you on, you need to be part of my program, the Abundant Business Academy. It will absolutely change your life!
